Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has moved to deny speculation linking him with a summer move to Major League Soccer.
The experienced shot-stopper has earned a hero status in his native country after impressing for Team USA at the 2014 World Cup.
As a result, the 35-year-old has been heavily linked with a summer return to the MLS, but he has moved to deny the reports, claiming there has been no contact whatsoever.
“There seems to be a lot getting said about my return and two weeks ago some things popped up on Twitter and I was getting all sorts of phone calls,” Howard told radio station SiriusXM FC.
“I had to call my agent to find out what was going on because I didn’t know anything about it and nor did he.
“I’ve got three years left at Everton and at the end of that I want to be done playing so what happens in between that I have no idea. It is a business, but I’m happy where I am. I don’t know anything about those rumours, I have to be honest.”
Tim Howard began his career with North Jersey Imperials, before moving to Metrostars, where he made a name for himself and became a national team player.
A lucrative switch to Manchester United ensued, but Howard was unable to prove his worth at Old Trafford and in turn was sold to Everton, where he has been since 2007.
Howard has made a total of 291 Premiership appearances for the Toffees while earning 104 United States caps.
