Bolton have completed the signing of defender Tim Ream from New York Red Bulls, the Premier League club have revealed on their official website.
The 24-year-old arrived to Reebok Stadium as a replacement for Gary Cahill and he has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The United States international had trials at Arsenal, West Brom and Bolton last year, but eventually opted to join the Trotters.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle was delighted with the arrival of the promising defender.
“First and foremost we are absolutely delighted to secure Tim’s services,” Owen Coyle told club’s official website.
“He is a US international, a player that year-on-year has progressed and got better, and he will continue to do that.
“Tim is everything that we want in the players we are bringing to the club when we spend in the transfer market. He is young, has a tremendous attitude and a winning mentality.”
Tim Ream joined New York Red Bulls at the start of 2010 and has since become a key player for the MLS side, amassing the total of 63 league appearances.
He made his international debut in November 2010 and currently has seven United States caps to his name.
After spending two season at New York, Ream welcomed the opportunity to make the next step in his career.
