Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has given chairman Daniel Levy a wish list of players he wants to sign this summer.

Spurs brought in a host of new players last summer, but look set to fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Wanted

Sherwood told Sky Sports: “I’ve given him (Levy) a list of players of who I want for next year,”

“You need to start looking, this is the time. The chairman’s got a list of the players who I would like. There is a list of players and if you get one you don’t need to get the other. There are four or five are on there.”

Unsuccessful

Spurs have struggled to gel all of last summer’s signings this season and have enjoyed a topsy-turvy campaign. Spurs are seven points off Arsenal in the race for fourth spot, with in-form Everton sandwiched in-between.

It would be very hard to claim that this season has been a success for the side from north London. Both bosses Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood have enjoyed decent spells this season, but then those spells have tailed off into inconsistency.

Summer

Sherwood may just be wasting his time writing lists of players he wants to bring to White Hart Lane this summer. Rumours persist that Sherwood will not even be in the Tottenham dugout next season and that outgoing Holland boss Louis van Gaal will be replacing the former-Blackburn coach.

These rumours are not unusually, especially because Sherwood has no managerial experience and has been put in charge of a club that is very ambitious. I was very surprised that Sherwood was given an 18-month contract.

I do however feel that he was only ever keeping the seat in the Tottenham dugout warm for a more experienced boss to arrive in the summer. When Andre Villas-Boas left Spurs is was not a great time to find a quality replacement.

There was somebody ambitious and willing to have a go at the job within their ranks, so Spurs choose him. It just seems strange that a club with the resources of Tottenham choose somebody with no managerial experience to manage their team.

Sherwood may one day be a decent manager, but he has at times looked out of his depth in the Spurs hot seat.

Vocal

Tim Sherwood was always regarded as a character in his playing days. During his time as a player Sherwood captained Blackburn to their only ever English top-flight title. He was very much considered one of the leaders of the team.

Since his appointment, Sherwood has a lot to say on a lot of issues. Every day he seems to want to voice his opinions. However, sometimes it is better to keep quiet on some things. He has even admitted himself that he needs to let the football do the talking.

Maybe he has just started to get carried away with the role and maybe more experienced bosses would have known when to talk and when to not. However, it may just be part of his character.

Big Game

Tottenham face a daunting trip to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. The bookmakers do not fancy Spurs chances of emerging with anything, as Spurs are odds of 6/1 to gain a win at Anfield. The Reds have won their last eight games and are the Premier League’s top scorers.

Tottenham now look set to miss out on the Champions League spots, so the top six and a likely place in the Europa League is the best they can realistically hope for. They currently sit in sixth place, a point behind Everton, who have a game in-hand.

The Europa League may not be the Champions League, but it is still a piece of silverware to strive for next season, if Europe’s elite competition is out of reach.

Changes

Just like last summer, I believe this summer may bring a raft of changes at White Hart Lane. The biggest change I see is likely to come in the Spurs dugout. Sherwood has done a decent job, but he does not currently have the managerial experience to take the club where they want to be in the future.

Will Tim Sherwood be at Tottenham to bring in new players this summer?
