Time to snap up under-rated Swans

After knocking the FA Cup holders out of the this season’s competition on their own patch you might have expected the odds compilers to have been a little kinder to Swansea City, but the Swans are a massive 100.0 to go on and lift the trophy at Wembley.

And at those kind off football odds it’s worth having a cheeky punt on the Championship side.

Not since 1980, when West Ham beat Arsenal, have a side from outside the top flight won the tournament, but Cardiff came close last year after reaching the final only to lose 1-0 to Portsmouth.

Swansea shocked Portsmouth at Fratton Park on Saturday and were full value for their 2-0 win and Roberto Martinez’s men will fancy their chances against Fulham at home in round five.

The Swans are primarily gunning for promotion to the Premier League this season after winning their last three Championship games and Martinez said: “We want to get into the Premiership but we must be realistic given our financial power. It could take two, three, four or five years.

“But what we have is a group of players who are in tune – they are all hungry for success and want to reach the Premiership.

“Every player puts the success of Swansea above their own careers and when you have that you have a great chance to fulfill your potential.”

The Welsh outfit’s enterprising passing style has won them numerous admirers this season and they have already knocked Hull City out of the Carling Cup and Fulham will not be relishing their trip to Wales in February.

Nathan Dyer and 14-goal Jason Scotland both have pace to burn, while Jordi Gomez and Darren Pratley have been providing the drive from midfield.

Martinez‘s men haven’t lost since November and at triple figure odds they look a great football bet to serve up some more shock cup results in the coming months.
