Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote has moved to deny speculations that he plans to leave St James Park at the end of the season.
The combative midfielder has seen his stock rise a great deal over the last year or so and he has been repeatedly linked with a big club move.
Nonetheless, it appears that club’s recent uptrend in fortunes has convinced the player his future lies at St James Park.
“I’m a Newcastle player – my future is at Newcastle,” the Ivorian told the Evening Chronicle.
“I’m playing for Newcastle and I have to finish this season strongly and help the team get into Europe.”
The highly rated midfielder is set to return into action after recovering from a hamstring problem and he is expected to start against Stoke and help the Magpies record six straight victory in a row.
The Ivory Coast international has developed into a key figure at St James Park shortly after arriving to the club from Twente and he has formed an excellent midfield partnership with Yohan Cabaye this season.
The 25-year-old has failed to get on the scoresheet in 19 Premier League starts this season, but he did pick up 8 yellow cards in the process.
