PSV coach Dick Advocaat will have to make do without Sweden international Ola Toivonen for six months due to a hamstring injury.
The attacking midfielder picked up the knock while training with the national team earlier this week, and returned to Eindhoven on Thursday with tests determining the rupture of a hamstring tendon.
PSV have confirmed on their official website the forward will be out of action for up to six months, with the 26-year-old to undergo surgery in the upcoming days.
Toivonen had been a key figure at PSV this season, scoring three goals in seven Eredivisie appearances for the Eindhoven giants.
The Sweden international’s injury means that Georginio Wijnaldum is likely to get the chance to prove his worth as attacking midfielder again.
