Premier League giants Chelsea have submitted an official proposal for FC Tokyo striker Yoshinori Muto, according to the Japanese club.
The 22-year-old has been in excellent form ever since he nailed down a regular starting berth some year ago and it appears his impressive displays did not go unnoticed.
FC Tokyo chairman Naoki Ogane has revealed that they have received a formal offer from Chelsea for the youngster’s services.
“It is true that Chelsea sent us an offer for Muto. It is a formal offer with conditions. They want to acquire him in the summer,” Ogane told Nippon Sports.
It is believed the transfer bid is in the region of £4 million, with the club yet to decide whether the proposal will be accepted.
After scoring 13 goals in 33 league outings last season, Muto was called into Japan squad for the 2015 Asian Cup and he went on to make four substitute appearances at the tournament finals.
He has continued the rich vein of form in the new campaign, netting three times in first four matches.
