Utrecht winger Tommy Oar is almost certain to leave the club in the January transfer window, Voetbal International can reveal.
The highly rated youngster has less than a year left on his deal at Stadio Galgenwaard and with quite a few sides showing interest in his services, he is unlikely to sign a contract extension.
Utrecht still hope to try and persuade Oar to stay, but they admit they will have to sell their prized asset in January in case he does not sign a new contract.
“The club is going to have a conversation with him in the coming weeks to see what we can do,” Utrecht chief Wilco van Schaik told Voetbal International. “If Oar does not extend, than a winter exit is almost certain.”
Van Schaik also moved to confirm that the 22-year-old had been watched by various scouts this season, with Ajax reportedly leading the chase for his signature as they see the Australian as a perfect replacement for Lasse Schone.
After starting all three games for the Socceroos at the 2014 World Cup, Oar continued the rich vein of form in Dutch Eredivisie, having produced 6 assists in 7 league outings.
