(GSM) – Their title chances were hit last Sunday when they were defeated by Sampdoria (2-1) and Luca Toni and Roma are now hoping for Lazio to help them out against Internazionale at the weekend.
Roma’s arch-rivals are almost out of the relegation scuffle and could be running short of motivation in the clash against the Nerazzurri.
“It is a very difficult situation. We have to win all three games and hope that Inter will drop points,” said Toni.
“I really hope Lazio will play a great game against Inter. Against the Nerazzurri they will need to give their best and I genuinely hope they will be willing to do so.
“But knowing that they are from the other ‘side’, I am not too confident.”
Roma had plenty of regrets following the defeat at the hands of Samp.
“There were a couple of controversial decisions,” added Toni.
“I always believe in the officials’ good faith. I cannot believe conspiracy theories. If that was the case then it would be the end for football.
“A referee can make mistakes. In a game like that there are several calls that can change the course of it. Sometimes we take advantage of them, this time we were unlucky.”
