Italy striker Luca Toni could be without a club at the end of the season as AS Roma are refusing to continue paying his loan from Bayern Munich where his contract is set to expire next month.
The 32-year-old World Cup winner is no longer wanted by Roma’s club president Rosella Sensi, according to Italian daily sports paper Gazzetta dello Sport, and Bayern have not offered him a contract extension.
“He has to be realistic about his future with Bayern Munich,” Bayern’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told German broadcaster Sport 1.
“It is up to him and his agent to find a solution in Italy.”
There is virtually no chance of Toni returning to Bayern having fallen out of favour with coach Louis van Gaal, while the 2006 World Cup winner has failed to impress Roma captain Francesco Totti and has not made his mark at the club.
