Serie A outfit Torino are stepping up their efforts to sign former AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino, Tuttosport can reveal.
I Granata are on the lookout for a quality centre forward and they seem to have made the former Italy star their primary target.
Torino are expected to make a move on the 32-year-old in the January transfer window, although they cold face competition from other Serie A sides.
Gilardino is reportedly hoping to return to Italian Serie A and even though his contract at Guangzhou Evergrande runs until June 2016, there is a chance he will be released on a free in the coming weeks.
The veteran forward remains one of Italy’s most prolific footballers, having bagged a total of 173 Serie A goals in his career.
Gilardino has represented quite a few top sides in Italy, but he enjoyed his best years while at AC Milan and Fiorentina.
