Serie A outfit Torino will not be giving any discounts on star forward Andrea Belotti, according to chairman Urbano Cairo.
It is no secret that the Italy international has a €100 million release clause in his contract that is only valid for foreign clubs, but his performances this season did not exactly justify said figure.
After bagging 26 league goals last season, Belotti has only managed 9 so far, but Torino president Urbano Cairo is adamant the asking price remains €100 million.
“On Belotti, I’ve never wavered: this season is only down to bad luck,” he told Tuttosport.
“Il Gallo has been very unlucky this year, and I’ll defend him because injuries have affected his level of performance.
“We must understand what Belotti’s gone through, wait for him and get behind him. He’ll stay, unless a foreign club come up with €100m.
“If that doesn’t happen, he’ll remain our captain.”
AC Milan are widely seen as the number one candidates to sign Belotti, but the high asking price remains a major issue.
