Torreira close to Atletico Madrid move

According to a recent report from Fabrizio Romano, Lucas Torreira’s agent has landed in Spain as talks with Atletico Madrid continue.

The Arsenal midfielder, alongside Sead Kolasinac, is on the verge of leaving the Emirates as Mikel Arteta attempts to trim down his squad at the Emirates. Torreira was once viewed as one of the Gunners’ most intriguing prospects but now that they’ve made a handful of new acquisitions, he’s fallen down the pecking order in a big way.

Atletico have always dragged their feet regarding outgoings but now that they’re actively trying to bring people in, there’s a ruthless side to their negotiations that is coming out to play. Torreira is the man they want and with the clock ticking, Atletico are bound to do whatever it takes to get him to sign on the dotted line.

Torreira needs to prove himself again – and La Liga could be the perfect place to do that.
