(GSM) – Fernando Torres arrived back to Liverpool as a World Cup winner this week. The Spanish striker hopes he can also win trophies with his club in the future.

“This is the best club in the country so the targets and expectations are always high,” Torres said at the club’s official website. “Hopefully we can stay at our level. At Liverpool the aim is to fight for every title.

“It was difficult last season but we are sure we can improve this season. I am really happy to be back, really happy to stay with all my teammates.”

It seems like the 26-year-old forward, who has been linked with Manchester City and Chelsea, has no plans of leaving Anfield this summer.

“My commitment and loyalty to the club and to the fans is the same as it was on my first day when I signed,” he added. “I am looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“From my first day I got the same welcome as Stevie (Gerrard) or Carra (Jamie Carragher) or players who have been here for a long time. I felt at home from the first day, I feel the fans love me and everyone knows I am really happy here and really happy to play at Anfield.

“As I said earlier, I’m looking forward to starting the season and playing with my teammates and for the fans.”

to Brad: “Best” has many meanings, not only for the league result…. it may include the support of the fans, the atmosphere when playing at anfield, the friendship between players etc…. i think we can’t challenge on that….

how can you call a team the best in the country when they just came off a CRAP season and haven’t even won the domestic league title in TWENTY years? not to mention, but they havent won ANYTHING for about five years. far from the best.
