Sky Sports understands that Fernando Torres is set to complete a loan move back to Atletico Madrid – the club where he began his professional career.
The Spain international will move to AC Milan, the club he has been with on loan from Chelsea since the summer, on a permanent basis on January 5th before switching back to the Calderon.
In six seasons, Torres played two hundred and forty-one times for Atleti in all competitions, scoring ninety-one goals and first earning the club’s captaincy at just nineteen.
He moved to Liverpool in 2007 where his sublime form earned him a British record move to Chelsea, though he struggled at Stamford Bridge, eventually moving to Milan on loan.
The 30 year old made ten appearances for the Italian giants, but scored just once and will now have the opportunity to rebuild his career in his home country with the reigning La Liga Champions.
