Having won the Europa League, Fernando Torres is preparing to leave Atletico Madrid.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker has been linked with a move to the MLS as well as a reunion with his former manager Rafa Benitez at Newcastle, while a more recent report had him linked with Chinese side Beijing Renhe. However, according to Marca, the Spaniard has received a new, interesting offer, one that would see him move to Japan. The J1 League club in question is Sagan Tosu.
The club are currently jammed in the relegation zone, and they hope that the 34-year-old Torres would help in their cause. For that, they are ready to pay the striker €4million per year.
Torres, who had scored 81 goals in 142 appearances for Liverpool before winning the FA Cup and the Champions League in 2011/12 and the Europa League in 2012/13 with Chelsea, also has two European Championships and a World Cup with Spain. He accomplished all those feats in between his two Atletico Madrid stints, with a half-season loan to AC Milan squeezed in there as well.
