A report from the Daily Mail suggests that Fernando Torres wants to leave Chelsea and head back to his native Spain, possibly as soon as the January transfer window.
Since arriving for £50 million from Liverpool in 2011, Torres has not enjoyed the best spell of his career and looks a long way off his best.
He has endured another frustrating campaign in the English Premier League this time out and some reports are now linking him with a move back to former employers Athletico Madrid.
Is it likely that a deal will not be done until next summer, but if both parties agree it is right for him to move on, then it could happen in the New Year.
Much is sure to depend on his form between now and when the window opens and if the European Champions have another striker in line to replace him.
If he did head back to La Liga to join Atletico, then some believe that would allow Radamel Falcao to join Chelsea as part of an exchange deal.
It is certainly a fascinating story to keep an eye on with just weeks until the transfer window opens again.
