(GSM) – Portsmouth have officially signed Serbian defender Dusko Tosic on a free transfer. The player has been tipped to join Pompey since the beginning of January, but had to be granted a conditional work-permit to complete his move to England.
Despite the club’s dire financial stand, Portsmouth have decided to bring in Tosic to bolster their squad.
Tosic left Werder Bremen after cancelling his contract with the German club who were keen to offload him.
He has now sealed a swtich to Fratton Park where his new boss, Avram Grant, is happy with an extra option in defense and midfield as he faces a stiff battle against relegation.
“He’s not under contract so we could sign him (outside the transfer window),” Grant told Sky Sports News.
“He played for Werder Bremen and I think he could help us because we don’t have enough defenders, and he can full-back and in the middle.”
