Data Debrief: Alexander the great
What a season it is turning out to be for Isak, who is undoubtedly the Premier League’s in-form striker.
He became the third player to net in seven successive Premier League matches for the Magpies after Alan Shearer (September-November 1996) and Joe Willock (April-May 2021). Isak’s goal may have come from point-blank range, though he nevertheless had to react sharply.
Gordon, meanwhile, has either scored (two) or assisted (three) in each of his last five league appearances for Newcastle; he now has two goals and two assists against Tottenham in the Premier League – against no other side has he registered more goal involvements in the competition.
Newcastle’s number 10 will no doubt have impressed onlooking England boss Thomas Tuchel, who may also have been happy with what he saw from Solanke, who has scored more goals in the opening five minutes of Premier League games than any other player (four) since the start of last season.
Spurs piled on the pressure late on, though did only manage four shots on target throughout, finishing with 0.8 expected goals to Newcastle’s 1.1.
