Tottenham 1/3 to beat Southampton in Tuesday’s Premier League clash

Competition: Premier League

Market: Tottenham to beat Southampton

Odds: 1/3 @ Bet365

The Premier League is back for yet another enthralling instalment in England’s top league. The festive period is already proving to be one that each and every team is having to battle through as the games continue to rack up. With this in mind, the players are back out on Boxing Day as Tottenham host Southampton on Tuesday.

Tottenham have been in good form lately as they look to bounce back from a run of games that saw them lose a massive amount of ground on Manchester City at the top. In their last five they have won three matches, drawn once and lost once, which has helped them onto 34 points for the season. They are currently a single point behind fourth-placed Liverpool, meaning a run of positive results would likely see them leapfrog Jurgen Klopp’s team. 34 goals scored is fairly good, but they have been uncharacteristically poor at the back, conceding 18 times in their 19 games.

Southampton, on the other hand, have been struggling this season and they are in need of a few positive results if they are to avoid becoming embroiled in a relegation battle. After 19 games they have won just four times, drawing seven and losing eight, scoring 18 goals and conceding 25 times. In their last five, they have lost twice and drawn three times, and they have just 19 points, meaning they are three clear of Bournemouth in 18th. Southampton clearly need a win, and soon. With this in mind, we are backing Tottenham with 1/3 @ Bet365.
