Tottenham Hotspur lock horns with Arsenal in the third round of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night, with White Hart Lane hosting the first North London derby of the season. Given contrasting form between the two sides, this week’s meeting promises to be a competitive affair with a fourth round place in the Capital One Cup at stake.

Tottenham are enjoying a turnaround in form ahead of their derby clash against Arsenal, with the Lilywhites having won back-to-back in the Premier League against Sunderland and Crystal Palace. Unbeaten in their last five games in the top-flight, while enjoying three consecutive victories in all competitions, Tottenham will be full of confidence against an Arsenal side in poor shape at the worst time.

The Gunners have suffered two defeats in a week, following up a shock Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb with yet another dismal performance against Chelsea. Arsenal have dropped points in half their Premier League games this season, and a trip to White Hart Lane may well see them coming unstuck given their poor showings of late.

Manager Arsene Wenger is expected to rest a host of first team players, which could well be to their detriment. Tottenham, on the other hand, will be taking the competition for more seriously to book their place in the next round. They took four points from their two games against Arsenal in the Premier League last season, and made the final of the Capital One Cup in 2014/15 too.
