Tottenham threw away a great opportunity to put themselves in contention to threaten the top-four chasing sides (Arsenal, Manchester United, Southampton, Liverpool), with the Londoners dropping points at home to West Ham United.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men ended the weekend only three points off fourth, but they cannot afford a slump in for after the hard work done to get the into this position. The race for a Champions League spot looks set to go down to the wire this season, but Tottenham know they’ve missed a big opportunity to stake a claim to be contenders.

They recently also lost to Liverpool in the league prior to the West Ham draw, which meant the Reds did the double over Spurs too. It’s bad timing for Tottenham, and they’ll be hoping to turn things around in their next Premier League game against Swansea City (home).
