In-form Tottenham host a struggling Aston Villa at White Hart Lane on Monday night, and the Londoners are big favourites to pick up all three points in their Premier League clash given their impressive run of results. As for the Villans, the relegation-threatened visitors are desperate for a win in the division, but have a big task in coming out on top following such a poor start top the campaign.

Tottenham are enjoying a brilliant season under manager Mauricio Pochettino, still unbeaten since their opening day defeat. The Londoners are immediately coming off the back of a 5-1 win against AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, and are in great shape to dispatch of Villa as a result. Spurs have beaten Crystal Palace and Manchester City on home soil this season, while picking up a point against Liverpool. Such form sees them in pole position to beat an Aston Villa side enduring contrasting fortunes.

The visitors are currently rock bottom of the Premier League after 10 games this season, and have lost six on the bounce. The Midlands outfit have lost their last four away games in the division ahead of Monday’s clash, and the form of Spurs suggests it could be five. Aston Villa won their last meeting at White Hart Lane, but have a woeful head-to-head record before that, losing eight of their last 10 games.

Victory for Tottenham on Monday night could see the Londoners go just two points off a top-three spot in the table, while Villa need to narrow the gap to safety. Currently four points adrift, an unlikely win will see them back in contention for survival.
