Premier League Tottenham play host to Serie A leaders Ac Milan at White Hart Lane tomorrow night hoping to progress to the Champions League quarter final.
Spurs are currently 1-0 up from the first leg at the San Siro and Spurs will be confident of progression.
Confident
Tottenham performed brilliantly in Italy and looked completely confident against the Rossoneri at the San Siro.
Everybody expected them to go to Milan and just defend. However Tottenham are a team who seem confident no matter who or where they play.
Width
Tottenham have something in their team that AC Milan are vulnerable to, that’s width. AC have played with a very narrow formation for a long time and when they come up against teams with good width they struggle.
Welsh winger wizard Gareth Bale is hoping to be fit to start in the second round clash. If he is I can see him causing AC Milan the same sort of problems he caused city neighbours Inter in the group stages. According to reports this morning the winger is ‘touch and go’ to start against Milan.
On the right wing Aaron Lennon caused Milan all sorts of problems in the first leg in Milan and he helped set up the only goal of the game for Peter Crouch. He has blistering pace and against the old legs in the Milan team could have a lot of joy tomorrow night.
Mediocre
Nobody could claim that this is a vintage AC Milan team, yet they are currently leading the Serie A table. A lot of Italian pundits have been skeptical about the standard of Italy’s top flight and I have to say from what I have seen of it this season it isn’t exactly great.
Talented
AC Milan does have some very talented individuals. However they have massive egos. Star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has got a big ego but also has big talent when he’s in the mood. When he’s good he’s unstoppable but he seems to struggle against English sides.
Then there is Brazilian attacker Robinho. At times he’s brilliant and at times he looks like a sulking toddler. If things are not going his way then he lets his head drop and just seems to disappear from games. He showed both sides of his character while at Manchester City.
Fans
The Tottenham fans have been fantastic during the clubs run in the Champions League so far. They relish the big game atmospheres that Europe’s elite competition has brought them and the White hart Lane crowd could be a big factor in whether their team progress into the quarter-finals.
Quarter-Finals
I really don’t think that Tottenham have anything to fear from AC Milan. As I mentioned before AC Milan are not of the vintage of former sides and Tottenham have got the players to cause them major problems.
If Tottenham’s big players play to the best of their abilities I have no doubt that Tottenham will be the team marching on to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
