Tottenham coach reveals Modric will be sold if price is right
Tottenham assistant coach Kevin Bond has revealed that Spurs will sell Modric if the right offer comes along.
Tottenham have already rejected several bids from Chelsea for the Croatian midfielder, but there is still a possibility that Modric will leave this summer.
The club chairman Daniel Levy has insisted that Modric will not be sold, but assistant coach Kevin Bond has other ideas.
“Transfers are part and parcel of the game but you don’t want to lose your best players and he certainly is one of our best players,” Bond told talkSPORT.
“We desperately don’t want to lose him but everyone has a price.
“If somebody came along and the money turns your head and he did go – although the chairman is adamant he doesn’t want to sell him – then we’d have to get on with it.
“Harry would have to deal elsewhere in the market.”
The latest reports suggest that Chelsea have made a £30 million offer for the Croatia international and that could be close to Tottenham’s valuation of the player.
Arsenal in shock swoop for Wolves winger
Arsenal are weighing up a move for Wolves winger Matt Jarvis, according to Daily Mail.
The Gunners are still looking for summer reinforcements and Arsene Wenger has set his sights on Wolves’ Matt Jarvis.
The tricky winger has attracted Wenger’s attention with his impressive showings last season and the Frenchman has instructed club scouts to follow the player’s progress over the next few weeks.
The Arsenal representatives visited Portman Road on Saturday to watch the player in action against Ipswich, but, unfortunately for them, Jarvis did not feature because of a groin injury.
Despite that, the Gunners will continue to follow the England international and may even make a formal offer if their move for Valencia winger Mata falls through.
Following the very disappointing showing at the Emirates Cup, Arsenal are in desperate need for defensive reinforcements, while they also hope to complete Mata deal this week.
Arsenal are reportedly in talks with Everton regarding the sale of Phil Jagielka, but the two clubs are still far away from reaching the agreement.
Schalke boss adamant Raul will not leave
Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick has rejected speculations linking Raul with a move away from the club.
The Spanish legend has one year left on his contract, which led to speculations linking him with free-spending Malaga.
However, Ralf Rangnick claims that nobody has come in asking about the Spaniard’s availability.
“Why should we sell Raul? There are no enquiries for him, not from any other team,” he told Bild.
“We are not thinking about letting him go. Raul is here and we appreciate that. He is a player who can help us move forward.”
“We want to use him in the best possible way. I am sure that we will go into the new league campaign with this current squad.”
The recent reports suggested that Raul is not to keen with his new position, seeing that he now plays behind the strikers, but the Schalke boss has moved to deny such speculation.
“For me, Raul is playing in the same position as under Felix Magath, as an attacking midfielder. That is where he also operated in both legs against Inter, when he scored two goals and set up another two. His biggest strengths are the dangerous passes he plays in behind and his goalscoring.
“Raul is not unhappy. We spoke for an hour together during our training camp. He sees his role as I do and told me that it was his position. He is pleased that we now place emphasis on tactics in training.”
