Tottenham are growing tired of trying to negotiate deals to bring Roman Pavlyuchenko and Andrei Arshavin to England and have now switched targets, according to News of the World.
The latest report in The Daily Mail suggests that Arshavin would cost roughly £19 million. News of the World, however now links Tottenham to West Ham striker Dean Ashton – who has recently signed a new deal at Upton Park.
Ashton price tag apparently reads about £18 million, but the West Ham board have quickly move to quell any sort of speculation intended to unsettle one of their star players.
“Hell would have to freeze over for us to sell Dean to a major rival,” said Duxbury, West Ham’s chief executive, according to the same report.
“It would be no surprise to us if there are certain clubs who would be interested in him.
“But we worked very hard to put together a deal to keep Dean at the club and he remains a massive part of our ambitious plans.â€Â
