According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has instructed the club to try and make a deal with Barcelona that would see them sign Carles Alena – but it’s not yet known whether or not it’d be on a permanent basis or as some kind of loan deal.
Spurs have had a poor start to the new campaign and that’s putting it lightly, and as we look ahead to the January transfer window, they could really do with a few new faces.
Barca, on the other hand, have so much strength in depth that they can afford to let a few star players go.
Alena has been turning heads for a while now, but the battle for places in the starting XI has ensured that he has been left out in the cold.
Tottenham need to strengthen in the middle of the park, and even at the age of 21, Alena can bring some security to that position.
