Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Rayan Cherki from Lyon in the January transfer window, according to GiveMeSport. Lyon are ready to sell the attacking midfielder this month because of their financial issues, and Spurs are among the clubs who are showing a keen interest in him.
The report has noted that Newcastle United are also interested in Cherki, but there are concerns at St. James’ Park that the 21-year-old may not fit into Eddie Howe’s style of play. While the Magpies are level on points with fourth-placed and defending champions Manchester City in fifth, Tottenham are 15th in the standings with 24 points from 23 games.
Cherki has scored five goals and given eight assists in 24 matches in all competitions this season. The Lyon youngster scored three goals and gave nine assists in 39 appearances in the 2023-24 campaign. Lyon are sixth in the Ligue 1 table at the moment with 30 points from 19 matches, four points behind third-placed AS Monaco.
