Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Gian Marco Ferrari from Sassuolo in the January transfer window, according to 90min. It has been reported that Spurs are looking to sign a new central defender when the transfer window opens next month and have identified the 28-year-old as a potential target.
According to the report, Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho wants to sign a left-footed centre-back in January. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is willing to sanction a deal, but he does not want to spend more than £15 million. Italian club Sassuolo would be open to selling the 28-year-old for that price.
Ferrari has been on the books of Sassuolo since 2016 and spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Crotone and the 2017-18 season on loan at Sampdoria. So far this season, the 28-year-old defender has made nine appearances in Serie A, providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
