Tottenham keen to replace the outgoing Berbatov

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos seems keen to replace the inevitable outgoing Dimitar Berbatov with a number of strikers. Recent reports suggest that Tottenham are to move for either Marcelo Moreno or Diego Milito in the summer.

With Berbatov expected to leave in the summer, Ramos will need to secure a big name signing in order to satisfy the White Hart Lane faithful if Berbatov leaves.

Marcelo Moreno is one of South America’s hottest properties, and plys his trade for Brazilian side Cruzeiro. The striker has been in prolific form this season, and Tottenham have already had an initial bid rejected. Moreno told the Brazilian press “I was told about the offer from Tottenham. Of course i want to play in England, but the club has to get an agreement with my agent, and from what i know what has been offered is not enough”.

The Daily Mirror suggests that Diego Milito is also on his way to White Hart Lane. The £10 million rated striker currently plays for Real Zaragoza, however with Zaragoza relegated the Argentinian is set to leave the club this summer. Milito is of similiar stature to Berbatov, and may be seen as a direct replacement.

Tottenham have been linked with numerous strikers including Dean Ashton and Samuel Eto’o. Eto’o had seemed destined for the club, however is thought that the Cameroon star’s wage demands were far too high for Ramos’s liking, and negotiations broke down between club and player.

I understand the Comolli is responsible for drawing up a list of players for Ramos to look at, and Levy has input as well.

However Ramos still plays the major part in deciding who he likes, quoting once “Players who I don’t like and who aren’t right for the team, I reject them,”

Therefore there is nothing wrong with saying it may be Ramos who is on the chase for the players, after Comolli and Levy have had thier say on the players as well.

PLease, please – understand the structure of the Spurs ‘hiring and firing’ policy. Levy, Comolli and the incumbent coach have a three-way discussion regarding what is needed, who is available, and who to go for. Ditto for sales. Stop ascribing all of transfer policy to one of the three. it usually transpires that ‘The Coach’ is responsible for all of the good purchases, and Comolli is responsible for the less successful purchases – and Dan Levy is a shock interloper into negotiations. No-one who doesn’t understand this much publicized structure should dare presume to authority status in informing others of the goings-on at Spurs.
