Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp revealed that Spurs were close to signing Charlie Adam from Blackpool, but missed out on the move by mere two minutes.
After Adam’s proposed move to Liverpool fell through, Spurs had a £6.5 million bid accepted for the Blackpool midfielder, but the deal collapsed as Blackpool shareholders couldn’t sign the paperwork before the transfer window closed.
“The boy was up for coming to us and they wanted to sell him,” Harry Redknapp said.
“We’d agreed a fee in the region of £6.5m but their chairman needed to get two shareholders to sign the forms and we were a couple of minutes away from getting it done.
“But there’s a chance we could go back for Adam in the summer.”
