One of the longest running transfer stories in Premier League football is likely to be resolved at the end of the season in England, as Tottenham are edging closer to completing a move for Saido Berahino from West Bromwich Albion.
Berahino’s club blocked a move to Tottenham on deadline day last season with the player ultimately threatening not to play for WBA again, but the former England U-21 international has since then made peace with his employers and got back in the team at Hawthorns.
With Berahino’s contract going into the final 12 months, West Bromwich Albion are now willing to sell and avoid losing their prised possession on a free transfer.
Tottenham, who have also been engaged in a war of words with WBA last season, have settled all disagreements with the club from Hawthorns and are now ready to return with a bid for the highly-rated striker.
The Mirror suggests that Spurs are readying the £20 million and a contract worth £45,000 a week in order to bring Berahino to White Hart Lane.
The 22-year-old Berahino is seen as the ideal partner for Harry Kane and Tottenham are not willing to give up the fight to get their man in the summer.
Berahino has started his professional career with West Brom and has so far made 92 Premier League appearances along with 23 goals.
