Tottenham have completed the signing of defender Bruno Uvini on loan from Sao Paulo, the Brazilian club have revealed.
The 20-year-old is set to join Spurs on loan until the end of the season, with the White Hart Lane outfit expected to make the transfer permanent in the summer transfer window.
The player, who is part of Brazil Under-20 national team, was visibly delighted to be joining such a big European club.
“It’s a great opportunity that came by, I couldn’t let it pass,” Uvini told Sao Paulo’s official website.
“I have been in talks with Tottenham for a while, it’s a great club, with worldwide visibility. They asked me to come right away.
“It’ll be there for three months during which time I’ll try to adapt to English football and to the culture. I think I’m going to evolve, both professionally and personally by doing this choice.”
Uvini started his professional career at Sao Paulo, after arriving to club’s youth academy from Audax Sao Paulo.
The towering centre-back made just eight league appearances during the two seasons at Estadio Cicero Pompeu de Toledo, but that didn’t stop him from attracting attention from major European clubs.
Uvini featured in 13 games for Brazil Under-20 national team since making his debut in 2011.
The youngster is seen as one for the future at White Hart Lane and he is unlikely to join the senior squad before the end of the season.
