Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of left-back Ezequiel Fryers from Standard Liege.
Details of the deal were not disclosed, but Spurs revealed the player would be joining club’s development squad.
The Telegraph claims the Premier League side have paid around £3 million for the highly rated defender, which is half of the amount Manchester United demanded for the player just six months back.
Fryers was set to join Spurs when his contract at Old Trafford expired in the summer, but Tottenham were not willing to pay the £6 million the Red Devils wanted for the player.
He instead moved on a free transfer to Belgium, where tribunal rules do not apply, before being sold to Tottenham in the January transfer window.
Fryers was signed to provide competition for Benoit Assou-Ekotto, who is finally ready to return into action following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The 20-year-old, who had made two Premier League appearances for Manchester United, featured seven times for Standard in Jupiler Pro League.
