Sky Sports are reporting that Tottenham striker Rafael van der Vaart has revealed that he would like to play in the Italian Serie A at some point in the future.
The Dutchman is concentrating on Euro 2012 matters for now, but he has still been thinking about his domestic future and Italy is a possible destination.
Speaking to Dutch magazine Playboy, he said: “I would like to play in Italy once. Much has been said about the Serie A not being attractive, but I have a good feeling about it.”
The 29-year-old has consistently been linked to Juventus, Inter Milan and Roma during his Tottenham career of course and having played in many of Europe’s top leagues, Italy is an attractive option for him.
For now though, he appears to have unfinished business at Tottenham. He has a great rapport with the White Hart Lane crowd and this isn’t something to take lightly.
It is only speculation for now of course, but perhaps he will have a couple more years in England and then finish his career in the Serie A. It would certainly be a good challenge for him.
The former Real Madrid man then spoke of his desire to remain in football beyond his playing days, so there is no doubt he has one eye on the future.
