Werder Bremen have moved to confirm that they have signed Serbian defender Milos Veljkovic from Tottenham Hotspur.
The talented centre-back, who can also operate in midfield, has signed a deal until June 2019 with the Bundesliga outfit.
The transfer fee was not disclosed, but considering that Veljkovic was nearing the end of his contract at White Hart Lane, the two clubs probably agreed on a nominal fee.
Despite impressing playing for club’s youth sides, the 20-year-old was never given a real chance in the senior side, and he leaves Spurs after making just two substitute appearances in the Premier League.
Veljkovic also struggled for playing time during loan spells with Middlesbrough and Charlton, but he won the Under-19 European Championship and Under-20 World Cup trophies with Serbia.
The highly rated youngster was linked with Serbia’s top clubs over the last couple of months, but he eventually opted to sign for Werder Bremen.
