Tottenham coach Harry Redknapp revealed Thursday that he was interested in luring West Ham striker Craig Bellamy to White Hart Lane in the January transfer window.

Negotiations between the two clubs are believed to have started with Redknapp admitting he was keen on the former Celtic star who joined West Ham 18 months ago for 7.5 million pounds.

“He's a feisty little character and is certainly one of the options, but if they don't want to sell him it's up to them,” Redknapp told Sky News at trasining ahead of Friday's game against Fulham.

West Ham coach Gianfranco Zola said this week he would be “very annoyed” to lose any members of his squad in January.

Redknapp though is keen to improve his own squad in the New Year, but the Spurs boss has insisted he is not interested in paying “crazy prices” for new players.

After the departures of Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov Spurs are short of attacking options with Darren Bent, Roman Pavlyuchenko and the on-loan Fraizer Campbell the only recognised strikers available.

Bellamy has returned to fitness with West Ham this season and has scored twice in the Premier League, including in the recent 1-1 draw at Chelsea.
