According to Sky Sports, talks are ongoing between Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa over the signing of Jack Grealish. The 22-year-old midfielder’s departure from Villa Park has been anticipated for months now, following Villa’s failure to gain promotion back to the Premier League with their play-off final loss to Fulham. It hasn’t been a decision that has been taken lightly, but courtesy of their ongoing financial issues, it seems as if the Midlands club don’t really have a choice.
Steve Bruce himself even stated that sales were going to be inevitable for the club, with the figure being around £30-40 million that is being reported. Grealish has been a hot commodity for years now and it finally seems as if he’s going to take that next step, and the timing couldn’t be better for Spurs following a season in which the Englishman appeared to showcase fantastic growth on the ball and a higher level of maturity.
