Roma stalwart Francesco Totti has admitted for the first time that he may consider leaving the club.
Totti, who has spent his entire career at Roma, has found his chances limited under manager Claudio Ranieri this Serie A season.
The 34-year-old was left disillusioned after being brought on for just four minutes against Sampdoria on Saturday.
Totti hinted at his unhappiness on his personal blog and on Tuesday had a meeting with club officials, including head coach Ranieri, to discuss the matter.
After the meeting, Totti was asked about his future by Sky Italia but the former Italy international told reporters he was undecided.
Totti said: ”I was slightly disappointed to enter the game four minutes before the end. But I accept this, I accept the bench, I accept everything. I am sad because this club should point to the maximum.”
When asked about his future at the club, Totti said: ”We must think about the present and then we will see.”
However, Roma president Rosella Sensi said Totti is still central to the club’s plans.
”Of all the players that have had the honour to wear the Roma jersey, Totti is the number one,” Sensi said.
“More than anyone else, he has been placed at the centre of our project in view of the future.”
”I say to my captain that even if the Sensi family leaves Roma, he must think of the duty that together we undertook for our fans and our city.”
