Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed that Roma captain Francesco Totti is in talks over a new deal at Stadio Olimpico.
The forward’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign, but he is on the verge of signing a contract extension.
Roma officials will respect the player’s wish to sign a two-year contract, while confirming the five-year deal worth €600,000 per season that will become effective once Totti ends his playing career and will see him remain at the club as an executive.
The two sides have yet to find an agreement over personal terms though, with the player requesting €3.5m per campaign and the Giallorossi offering €2.8m.
Nevertheless, with Totti proving his loyalty to the club on numerous occasions, it is widely expected that an agreement will be reached eventually.
Francesco Totti, 36, has spent his entire career at Roma, scoring a total of 227 goals in 537 Serie A matches.
