Toulouse advance despite defeat

French club Toulouse are through to the group phase of the inaugural UEFA Europa League, despite a 0-1 defeat by Trabzonspor on Thursday.

Toulouse had already beaten their Turkish opponents 3-1 in the city of Trabzon last week, but weren’t quite as dominant at their own stadium.

In fact, Trabzonspor took the lead through Ceyhun Gülselam and knew that another two goals would see them through to the group stage instead.

However, Toulouse avoided further damage to secure a 3-2 aggregate victory and a spot in the group phase.
