Toulouse sign Chantome

Toulouse have completed the signing of French midfielder Clement Chantome from Paris Saint-Germain, L’Equipe has learned.

The transfer will be announced later today, with the 25-year-old set to sign a long-term deal at Stade Municipal.

Le Tefece have produced quite a coup by signing one of Ligue 1’s top midfielders considering he had been followed by Everton, Crystal Palace and Fulham, among other clubs.

Chantome, who had two years left on his deal at Parc des Princes, was desperate to leave the Saints in search of first team football despite being given assurances by new boss Laurent Blanc that he would be considered for starting places.

The experienced midfielder leaves PSG after spending last 13 years at the club, having joined as a youngster from Le Mee Sports in 2000.

Chantome has since made a total of 162 Ligue 1 appearances for the Saints, scoring 5 goals in the process.
