Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue has confirmed reports linking him with a summer exit from Stade Municipal.
The 24-year-old is regarded as one of the best holding midfielders in French Ligue 1 and he was repeatedly linked with a move to Spanish La Liga.
Barcelona and Sevilla have been showing interest in the highly rated midfielder, while Toulouse president Olivier Sadran stated just few days ago that the player could leave if the right offer came along.
Etienne Capoue now admits he is looking for a new challenge and expresses his desire to join a big European club.
“Like Daniel Congre (joined Montpellier), I want to play in the Champions League, to face the best sides on the continent,” the Frenchman confessed to L’Equipe.
“I want to leave. I want to move on to progress and make it to the France team as quickly as possible.”
The holding midfielder has three years left on his deal with Toulouse, and while the Ligue 1 side are willing to cash in on him, they are not prepared to sell the player on the cheap.
Etienne Capoue has spent his entire professional career at TFC, and has scored 6 goals in 139 Ligue 1 matches.
