Yaya Toure’s contract at Manchester City is set to expire soon, and Pep Guardiola has already confirmed the veteran midfielder will leave the club this summer. However, Sky Sports report that Toure is keen on playing on in the Premier League.
Dimitri Seluk, the player’s agent, has apparently told Sky Sports that the Ivorian is keen on staying in England’s top flight, and that he’s even willing to pay half his wages back should his performances be deemed unsatisfactory. The agent says Toure is fit and eager to prove his quality that once had him regarded as the best midfielder in the league, is still there. He has, however, refused to name the interested clubs, but he has revealed that the negotiations will start as soon as the season is over.
His departure from the Etihad has been constantly heralded since the appointment of manager Pep Guardiola. Toure already left a club managed by the Catalan in 2010 when he made the switch from Barcelona to Manchester City. Now, he has once again found himself without a place in the team managed by Guardiola.
He is, however, desperate to prove he can still play at top level and stay in the league he has already won three times wearing the sky-blue shirt.
