Manchester City defender Kolo Toure is back in training with the English Premier League club as he nears the end of his drugs ban.

Toure, 30, was suspended from playing or training with City for six months after he was found guilty of taking a banned substance in a diet pill.

His ban does not officially end until September 2 but the Football Association have given City special dispensation to allow the Ivorian to return to training.

Toure is now allowed to train with his teammates as he prepares for his Premier League comeback, with his playing ban to remain in place until the first Friday in September.

The Ivorian is likely to return in City’s home match against Wigan Athletic at Etihad Stadium on September 10.

Manchester City begin their 2011/12 English Premier League campaign at home against newly promoted Swansea City on Monday.
