Newcastle United have agreed a £12m fee with Tottenham Hotspur for winger Andros Townsend, according to the Mail Online.
A potential between the sides seemed unlikely to happen as they failed to agree on a fee, though the winger is now set for a medical on Tyneside.
Townsend has struggled to hold down a first team place under Mauricio Pochetinno this season with the twenty-four year old limited to just three substitute appearances in the league and his only starts coming in the League Cup and Europa League.
In total, Townsend made ninety-three appearances for the North London club in all competitions, scoring ten goals though most of his career has been spent out on loan with sides in the top three tiers of English football.
The England international is set to become Newcastle’s third signing this month following the arrivals of Jonjo Shelvey from Swansea City and Henri Saivet from Bordeaux.
