(GSM) – Trabzonspor won their eighth Turkish Cup and a berth in the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League with a 3-1 victory over Fenerbahçe in Wednesday’s final in Sanliurfa.

After a scoreless opening 55 minutes, the action picked up when Fenerbahçe leading scorer Alex fired the Istanbul-based side into a 1-0 lead.

But Trabzonspor fought back nicely to equalize on a goal by Umut Bulut just 11 minutes later.

From there, Trabzonspor poured on the pressure, and Engin Baytar scored the decisive 2-1 goal in the 79th minute to all but seal the trophy.

Gustavo Colman added a third for emphasis in stoppage to hand Senol Gunes’ side their first major trophy since winning this same competition in 2004.

Trabzonspor, by virtue of winning the Cup, will enter next season’s Europa League at the play-off round stage of qualifying – the final round before the group stage.
