Competition: League Two

Market: Tranmere win

Odds: 4/6 @ Bet 365

Looking to close the gap at the top of the table, Tranmere will welcome a struggling Macclesfield side to Prenton Park on Friday night.

Starting with Micky Mellon’s Tranmere side, while the Rovers are coming off the back of a 6-0 drumming away to Shrewsbury in the EFL Cup, they are enjoying a bright start to the League Two campaign. Unbeaten in their last three and already in the playoff positions, Tranmere have also lost just one home match since the middle of August. One man to watch for the hosts will be League Two’s leading goalscorer James Norwood. Returning from his suspension, the 27-year-old has eight for the season already and has also found the net in three of his last four matches at Prenton Park.

As for the visitors, while Macclesfield may have run away with the National League last season, it has been an incredibly difficult start on their return to the Football League. Sacking manager Mark Yates after failing to win any of their 12 opening league matches, Macclesfield already sit four points adrift at the foot of the table. With their problems highlighted by their woeful form on the road, they are coming off the back of shipping four against Accrington Stanley and also suffered an 8-0 loss against Premier League side West Ham last month.
