Transfer round-up 30th August

With the transfer window shutting tomorrow (Friday) I thought I would give our readers an update about the big movers in the market.

I will also give an update tomorrow afternoon, after some of the deadline day deals have been sealed.

One of the biggest stories of today is Scott Sinclair and his £6.2million move to Manchester City.

The Swansea winger is set to undergo a medical with the champions before discussing personal terms and completing the move.

Swansea have moved quickly to replace Sinclair though. The Swans have agreed a £5.5million fee with Spanish club Valencia for winger Pablo Hernandez. The 27 year-old is expected in Wales later today to have his medical.

Another player heading to the Premier League from La Liga is Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero. The 25 year-old is due to arrive in London to discuss personal and have his medical ahead of a move to QPR. The fee has yet to be revealed.

Fulham looked to have pulled of something of a coup as the Cottagers have agreed an undisclosed fee with Manchester United for striker Dimitar Berbatov. The Bulgarian striker is now set to have his medical, after turning down moves to Italian clubs Fiorentina and Juventus.

According to Sky Sports Juventus may now turn their attentions to Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, who is desperate for a move. The Danish international had been linked with a move to AC Milan, but the Rossoneri have now signed Spanish striker Bojan Krkic from Roma instead.

QPR midfielder Joey Barton is set to move to Ligue One club Marseille in a deal involving Cameroon midfielder Stephane Mbia moving the other way. Barton is currently serving a 12 match suspension which he picked up in the last game of last season against Manchester City.

Huddersfield Town’s in-demand striker Jordan Rhodes is set to complete a £8million move to fellow Championship club Blackburn Rovers. Rhodes had been linked with various other clubs this summer including SPL giants Celtic and Premier League Fulham but now looks destine for Ewood Park.

Another Championship club Cardiff City have completed the transfer of Brighton winger Craig Noone for an undisclosed fee. The former-Liverpool reserve has signed a four-year contract at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Stoke City are close to the signing of USA and Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu. The 26 year-old has already agreed personal terms on the move and has had his medical. The Potters are just waiting for the final touches to be put on his work permit and he can officially join the club.

The Potters are also believed to have tabled a £4million bid for Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam. The Scotland international now appears way down the pecking order of midfielders at Anfield after the summer arrival of Nuri Sahin and Joe Allen.

Meanwhile Tottenham are looking at bringing in Marseille striker Loic Remy. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has travelled to France to try to put together a deal to bring the 25 year-old to White Hart Lane, despite Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas claiming he is happy with his striking options.

Aston Villa are still pursuing Genk striker Christian Benteke. The Belgian club has already turned down a bid of £5.5million for the 21 year-old, but the Midlanders haven’t given up and are expected to return with an improved bid before the window closes tomorrow night.
