Serie A outfit Inter Milan have announced the shock deal for Jiangsu Suning defender Trent Sainsbury.
The Australia international joins the Nerazzurri on loan until the end of the season after his place in the squad at Nanjing Olympic Sports Center came under threat.
After the new regulations decreased the number of foreigners in the matchday squad to just three, the Chinese side decided to offload the centre-back, despite the fact that he had performed admirably in his debut campaign.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan took advantage of the opportunity and added another quality option to their back line following the departure of Andrea Ranocchia.
Trent Sainsbury began his career with Central Coast Mariners and also represented PEC Zwole before moving to China.
The 25-year-old, who has 3 goals in 21 Australia caps, featured in 29 Chinese Super League games last term, scoring a total of 2 goals in the process.
